Delta, British Columbia
A paver pathway usually fails at the joint first, so the jointing product is where a low-maintenance surface is won or lost. At a private residence in Delta, British Columbia, a homeowner needed a stable, easy-care joint for a paver pathway, on a project produced in conjunction with HGTV. The choice was ROMEX® EASY, a ready-to-use bucket grout, installed across every joint in 2020, about 12 buckets over roughly 500 square feet, for a durable, power-washer-safe joint that keeps weeds and ants out. Great Canadian installed it.
PRODUCT SELECTION
The project used one product chosen for simplicity and performance: ROMEX® EASY, a ready-to-use resin bucket grout. Its selling points map straight to what a homeowner wants from a joint, long-term durability that resists erosion and washout, low maintenance, safety under a pressure washer, and a cured resin fill that blocks weeds from rooting and ants from tunneling through the joints. As a bucket product, it also goes down cleanly with no complex mixing or special equipment, a good fit for a straightforward path being built for an HGTV audience.
PROJECT LOCATION
The pathway is at a private home in Delta, in the Lower Mainland south of Vancouver, where paver paths see daily use and everyday weather. The coastal climate drives the jointing choice: steady rain washes out loose sand, moisture feeds weeds between pavers, and open sand joints invite ants to nest. The HGTV tie-in raised the stakes on appearance, since the finished path had to look its best on camera and stay that way.
PROJECT NEEDS
The core need was a joint that was stable, low-maintenance, and power-washer safe. It had to lock the pavers into a cohesive surface and stay put rather than eroding into gaps that hurt both the look and the footing. Low maintenance meant resisting the weeds and ant burrowing that plague sand-jointed paths, the two issues that most often force ongoing upkeep. And the joint had to survive pressure washing, which many weaker fills cannot, so the owner could keep the path sharp without dislodging the material.
PROJECT SOLUTION
Filling every joint with ROMEX® EASY turned the pathway into a stable, cohesive surface with a bound resin joint in place of washable sand. That joint holds the pavers firm through Delta’s rain and freeze-thaw, takes pressure washing without eroding, and seals out the weeds and ants that turn a paver path into a chore. One simple bucket application across the whole path delivered exactly the durable, weed-resistant, ant-resistant, power-washer-safe result the brief called for, and a finish that held up on camera.
