ROMEX® PURE +
Vertical Wall Jointing
Product ID: #196
Ideal for vertical walling stone applications.
ROMEX PURE + can be used for vertical surface application. It is a dry install and only minor pre-wetting of the veneer wall stones is required; this is a great benefit for joint renovations or for locations where not introducing water and breathability of the jointing material is a benefit. If using custom/non-ROMEX sand, it is always important to carry out a mock-up to verify results before proceeding with the install.
WEATHER WARNING – Only install between 0°C – 30°C | 32°F – 86 °F Lower temperatures result in slower hardening while higher temperatures cure faster. 20 – 30 minute working time and protect from moisture.

Preparation: Clean out joints to a depth of at least 30 mm | 1 1⁄4“ with a slab thickness less than 30 mm.
Pre-wet: Pre-wet the surface carefully, ideally with water spray. Do not let water accumulate in the joints. Avoid the use of too much water.
Mixing: Pour the 55lbs | 25 kg filler material component into a clean, sufficiently large bucket. Open the enclosed ROMEX® – PURE + bottle and pour the contents completely into the filler material component. In order to fully use the container content, allow a few seconds for all of the contents to pour out of the bottle. Start the mixing process. After 3 minutes of mixing time, pour the pavement jointing mortar into a clean, dry bucket and mix for at least 3 more minutes. Make sure that when pouring into the new bucket, all the resin that remains on the inside of the bucket is scraped off and added to the new bucket. Do not add water! Total mixing time is at least 6 minutes. Use a professional agitator.
Application: Apply the mortar evenly and completely onto the moistened surface with your hand using gloves or an alternate application device/method suitable for project conditions, ensuring it compacts deep into the joints and fills them completely. All tools should be regularly cleaned with a water spray during jointing to avoid impurities from the binding agent on the stone surface.
Final cleaning: Afterwards, sweep off the stone surface using a coarse street broom. Then use a soft hair broom to do a final cleaning until all residual mortar has been removed from the surface. Sweeping should be done diagonally to the joint. Do not reuse swept-off material.
Subsequent treatment: The freshly jointed surface needs to be protected against rain for the next 24 hours. The rain protection layer must not be laid directly onto the paved surface to ensure sufficient air circulation.
Important note – resin film: During the initial period a very thin film of epoxy resin could remain on the stone surface and intensify the color of the stone and protect it from dirt. This can be avoided by adequate pre-wetting, but if the grout is applied to dry stone a thin film could occur. The resin film is temporary and will disappear over time due to weathering and abrasion. In case of uncertainty, a sample surface should be tested before the entire jointing is done. A resin film does not constitute an “application fault,” and the quality of the surface is not compromised in any way.
