Some ROMEX products are resin film free, meaning the binder is engineered to lock into the joint or aggregate structure without leaving a shiny, surface-level coating once cured. In practice, that helps the finished hardscape keep a natural, mineral look and feel, rather than appearing “sealed” or plastic-like. It also supports cleaner aesthetics on textured stone and pavers because the material is designed to stay where it belongs, instead of forming a visible layer across the face of the surface. For installers and owners, a resin film free result can mean fewer visual distractions, a more uniform appearance, and a finish that better matches the original character of the materials.
Some ROMEX products are UV stable, which means they’re formulated to resist breakdown and discoloration caused by long-term and harsh exposure to sunlight. This matters in hardscape applications where surfaces take direct sun every day, because UV instability can lead to fading, yellowing, or premature deterioration over time in intense conditions. With UV stable chemistry, the cured material is designed to maintain its performance and appearance season after season, helping the installation stay consistent and reliable instead of aging unevenly. The result is a longer-lasting finish that holds up better in bright, exposed environments, including areas where aesthetics are just as important as durability.
PURE + gives you flexibility on aesthetics because the resin binder can be blended with a wide range of clean, dry, color-stable sands to create a custom joint color, rather than being limited to the standard ROMEX joint sand color options. By selecting the sand blend that matches your stone, pavers, or design palette, you can fine-tune the finished look from subtle neutrals to bolder tones while still getting the performance benefits of a resin-bound jointing system. As long as the sand is properly graded and compatible for the intended joint width and application, PURE + lets the color be driven by your material choice instead of a fixed set of pre-made colors.
ROMEX products are engineered to be puncture-resistant, providing exceptional durability and protection against damage in high-traffic areas. The advanced jointing compounds and resin-bound systems create a tough, cohesive surface that can withstand the impact of sharp objects and heavy loads without puncturing or deteriorating. This puncture resistance is especially important in environments where surfaces are exposed to various stresses, from the pressure of furniture legs to the impact of dropped tools or equipment. ROMEX products help maintain the integrity and appearance of your hardscape, reducing the need for repairs and ensuring a long-lasting, reliable surface. Whether for residential patios or commercial plazas, our puncture-resistant materials offer peace of mind and sustained performance in even the most demanding conditions.
ROMEX products are designed to be ADA compliant, ensuring they meet the accessibility standards required for public and private spaces. The smooth, stable surfaces created by our systems are ideal for creating pathways, patios, and other outdoor areas that are easy to navigate for individuals with disabilities. Our products solidify the gaps between pavers and eliminate uneven surfaces, reducing tripping hazards and making it easier for wheelchairs, pedestrians and strollers to move freely. Additionally, ROMEX surfaces provide a slip-resistant finish, further enhancing safety and accessibility. By choosing ROMEX, you can be confident that your hardscape installations will not only be durable and visually appealing but also fully compliant with ADA guidelines, ensuring inclusivity and safety for all users.
ROMEX RSG offers a unique bonded, wet-on-wet application method that ensures the bedding is securely attached to each paver, eliminating any chance of movement. This innovative technique involves applying the bonding agent while the bedding layer is still wet, allowing it to form a cohesive and robust connection between the bedding material and the pavers. This bond integrates the entire structure into a single, stable unit, preventing the individual pavers from shifting or settling over time. By creating this firm attachment, ROMEX not only enhances the durability and longevity of the surface but also ensures a level and aesthetically pleasing surface that remains intact even under heavy traffic and varying weather conditions. This innovative approach is a key factor in our reputation for producing high-performance, long-lasting hardscaping solutions.
ROMEX hardscape products are exceptionally frost-resistant, making them ideal for regions that experience harsh winters and fluctuating temperatures. This resilience was demonstrated through rigorous freeze-thaw testing conducted by RDH Building Science on a 12”x12” sample of our RSG system. The sample was subjected to 50 freeze-thaw cycles, simulating extreme weather conditions, and showed no visible decay in the paver units, jointing, bedding, or thin-set. The key to this durability lies in our TRASS BED paver bedding, which is engineered with up to 50% void space. Since water only expands by about 10% when it freezes, there is ample room for this expansion within the TRASS BED, preventing the pressure buildup that can cause other materials and bonded systems to crack or fail. This design ensures that ROMEX maintains its structural integrity and aesthetic appeal even after repeated freeze-thaw cycles, offering a long-lasting and reliable solution for cold climates. In consultation with ROMEX we will ensure the paving system allows the water to pass through and away. If you remove water you will not have frost heave, so with ROMEX products you have two defences against frost heave, its porous structure as well as appropriate paving system design.
When utilizing the RSG-10 system, surfaces are engineered to be vehicle-rated up to 40 tons, making them suitable for a wide range of applications from residential driveways to commercial parking areas. This system is designed to withstand the significant pressures exerted by heavy vehicles, ensuring that the surface remains intact and visually appealing over time. The robust nature of the RSG-10 system means it can handle the stress and weight of large trucks and other heavy machinery without cracking or deforming. This capability highlights our commitment to providing reliable, high-performance hardscaping solutions that meet the rigorous demands of both private and public projects.
ROMEX products are highly permeable, offering an excellent sustainable solution for stormwater management. Unlike traditional hardscaping materials that create impermeable surfaces, ROMEX products are designed to bind sand or stones only at their contact points. This innovative approach leaves open pathways between the particles, allowing water to flow through easily. As a result, rainwater is efficiently absorbed into the ground, reducing runoff and the risk of flooding. This permeability supports the natural water cycle, replenishing groundwater supplies and preventing erosion. By incorporating ROMEX hardscape products, landscapes not only benefit from aesthetic and structural durability but also contribute to effective and eco-friendly stormwater management, promoting environmental sustainability. Note: We recommend bi-annual pressure washing to restore the jointing sand’s advertised permeability rate.

ROMEX resin jointing products are designed to be pressure washer-safe up to 2000psi, ensuring that your outdoor spaces can be cleaned easily and effectively without compromising the integrity of the joints, unclogging the surface and rejuvenating the permeability. The advanced resin technology used in ROMEX jointing compounds creates a durable and resilient bond between pavers or stones, making the joints resistant to the pressure of water jets. This means that even with regular cleaning using a pressure washer, the joints will remain intact, preventing erosion or loosening that could otherwise lead to instability in the joint. With ROMEX, you can maintain the beauty and cleanliness of your patios, pathways, and driveways with the confidence that your joints will stay strong and secure, providing long-lasting durability and minimal maintenance.
ROMEX products are engineered to prevent ants from infiltrating and nesting within your surface, ensuring a pest-free and visually appealing outdoor space. The secret lies in the innovative resin jointing products that fill the gaps between pavers and stones. Unlike traditional jointing sand, which ants can easily dig through and dislodge, our resin-based solutions harden when reacting to air, to form a robust, cohesive surface. This effectively blocks ants from creating tunnels and colonies in between pavers.
