Since water only expands by about 10% when it freezes, there is ample room for this expansion within the TRASS BED, preventing the pressure buildup that can cause other materials and bonded systems to crack or fail. If you remove water you will not have frost heave, so with ROMEX products you have two defences against frost heave, its porous structure as well as appropriate paving system design.
